The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) have recently extended their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), solidifying their ongoing collaborative efforts. This reaffirmed partnership, initially established in 2013, bolsters cooperative measures between the two regulatory bodies in the realm of online gambling.
Recognizing the global nature of the industry, the MGA and AGCC underscored the necessity for cross-border cooperation, emphasizing a commitment to ensuring a secure and responsible gaming environment.
Carl Brincat, CEO of MGA, highlighted, “The renewal of the MoU with the AGCC continues to reaffirm our shared commitment towards supervising a safe and responsible gaming ecosystem across the board.”
Both entities, serving as regulatory authorities in their respective jurisdictions, oversee licensing, regulate brand operations, and address legal breaches in the online gaming sector.
Andrew Gellatly, Executive Director of AGCC, echoed these sentiments, stating, “With this MOU, we look forward to continuing and strengthening our valued collaboration with the MGA, to the benefit of both players and stakeholders.”
While not legally binding, the Memorandum of Understanding represents a mutual understanding and framework between the two regulatory bodies.
Established in 2000, AGCC currently issues over 70 licenses and collaborates with more than 20 game providers. The regulator primarily focuses on online gambling, issuing eGambling Licences and overseeing hosting providers and core service provider associates. Companies holding an AGCC license include prominent names like Sky Bet and Sky Casino, through Bonne Terre; Greentube, NetEnt, Playtech, and Kitty Bingo.
This recent extension of the MoU follows the release of the MGA’s Interim Performance Report for 2023, underscoring the ongoing developments and efforts within the gaming regulatory landscape.
