Kambi Group, a prominent name in the betting and gaming industry, announced the resignation of its CEO and Co-Founder, Kristian Nylén. The decision, conveyed to the Board of Directors, cited Nylén’s desire to prioritize family time as the driving force behind his departure.
In his statement, Nylén expressed his reason, saying: “The decision to stand down from my position at Kambi after so many enjoyable years has been difficult, but one predominantly driven by my desire to spend more time with my young and growing family.”
Despite his impending departure from the CEO position, Nylén has been nominated for election to the Board at the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) by Kambi’s Nomination Committee. Should his election be approved, Nylén intends to contribute his expertise to the strategic dimensions of Kambi’s operations.
Anders Ström, Chair of the Board, acknowledged Nylén’s pivotal role in positioning Kambi as a leader in the industry, attributing the company’s success to Nylén’s strategic vision and steadfast dedication over the years. Ström expressed his delight at the nomination, highlighting Nylén’s extensive industry knowledge as a valuable asset that will continue to benefit Kambi.
Ström said: “Kristian’s role has been critical in positioning Kambi as a frontrunner in our sector. His strategic foresight and unwavering commitment have been central to our many achievements over the years. I am delighted the Nomination Committee has proposed Kristian for the Board, where his extensive industry knowledge will continue to greatly benefit Kambi.”
In response to Nylén’s impending departure, the Board has initiated a search for his successor and anticipates sharing updates in the near future.
The announcement comes after Anders Ström assumed the role of Chair of the Board in November 2023, succeeding Lars Stugemo, who served in the position for nearly a decade. Stugemo’s decision to step down aligns with the choice not to seek re-election at the forthcoming Kambi AGM in 2024.
In recent developments, Kambi reported record-breaking betting figures during the World Darts Championship final, marking the most significant betting event in the company’s history.
The departure of Kristian Nylén signifies a pivotal moment for Kambi, with plans underway to identify his successor and continue the company’s trajectory of success amidst notable achievements in the gaming and betting sectors.
