Boyd Gaming Corporation has unveiled a significant philanthropic initiative, showcasing its commitment to community support by donating more than $200,000 to nearly 190 non-profit organizations spanning 11 states.
The philanthropic donations formed an integral part of Boyd Gaming’s exclusive 2023 ‘Wreaths of Hope’ and ‘Trees of Hope’ competition, engaging 186 non-profit organizations. In this distinctive initiative, patrons of Boyd Gaming were encouraged to actively participate by casting votes for their preferred charities, both online and on-site, throughout the holiday season. This collective effort determined the distribution of cash prizes to well-deserving organizations.
This philanthropic endeavor follows Boyd Gaming’s successful 2021 Christmas charity drive, where the company contributed over $180,000 to more than 160 non-profit organizations across the United States. This endeavor engaged participants in adorning wreaths and trees at 22 Boyd properties, while customers across the nation contributed to the cause by casting over 100,000 votes.
In addition to its charitable pursuits, Boyd Gaming has strengthened its leadership team through strategic executive appointments. Steve Thompson, formerly Executive Vice President for Operations in Nevada, has transitioned to the role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Meanwhile, Steve Schutte has taken on expanded responsibilities, overseeing Corporate Slot Operations, Food and Beverage, Hotel Operations and Nevada properties’ operations.
Ted Bogich, now Chief Operating Officer (COO), leads operations across Boyd Gaming’s 28 properties nationwide, showcasing the company’s dedication to effective leadership. While Ward Shaw assumes Bogich’s prior role, taking charge of operations in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
Boyd Gaming’s impressive third-quarter revenue report disclosed a remarkable 29% surge compared to the corresponding period in 2022. The company is currently immersed in dynamic expansion endeavors, notably the Fremont property project and strategic partnerships in the online gaming sector with industry titan FanDuel. This consistent growth, coupled with philanthropic initiatives, underscores Boyd Gaming’s dedication to fostering a positive influence within both the gaming industry and the communities it serves.
